The Cost of Inaction: Reclaiming Sovereignty and the Rule of Law

The crisis demands a completely renewed focus immediately. Regional and international actors must apply consistent pressure. They must prioritize democracy over all short-term security gains.

Support for local civil society is absolutely vital. Funding for independent journalism must be increased hugely. The defense of constitutional limits is essential now. The people must reclaim their fundamental sovereignty constantly.

They must engage in peaceful, sustained civil action actively. They must demand the full restoration of all checks and balances. The cost of inaction is simply catastrophic now.

The democratic future of the continent is hanging in the balance. This widespread backsliding is a profound, defining hard news story. It threatens long-term stability immensely.
