When the colours of the rainbow shine bright

The world commemorated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), and without a doubt, the power of sport is vast as it holds transformative power in advocating foe social change, peace, and development. This year's theme, "Leveling the Playing Field: Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Sports," is a home run. At the backdrop of this year's theme we applaud with excitement the courage of olympian Yared Nuguse who has just come out. This milestone moment marks a significant step forward for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the sports industry. In the face of anti queer debates worldwide, this is an act of hope and represents so much more than just publicly declaring that one is in love with the same sex.
